It seems you are correct according to the
tech. writer for MiniMania, who wrote an
article on the use of today's 100LL Avgas
in automotive applications.
After all, this stuff is not the "purple"
140RON "P-51 Mustang" stuff of yesterday, anymore than today's unleaded
premiums are the 100+RON leaded
automotive gasolines of yesterday which
the Judson and it's British counterpart,
the Shorrocks, were designed to work
with.
Today's 100LL Avgas is no substitute for
the "right stuff", beginning at about $4.50
per gallon. Probably a little higher today.
