Transmission question

I took my 74 Midget on it's first little drive today
after 80% of the rebuild completed. The trany
[Rubuilt]is  noisey in first gear. It sounds noisey on
pull but not on coast. Anyone have any ideas about
this? I knew I should have rebuilt it myself. TIA
