WST-
This is probably a Datsun 5 speed with
first gear locked out. They do this on
the track as a 5 speed would give them
a "disqualifying" (for class) advantage.
These conversion kits go for $600+ with
the cost of the gearbox NOT included.
The gearbox can be a normal road box
or a close ratio one.
Assuming all works ok, for $100 it sounds like a "steal". Why does the
current owner
want to get rid of it?
The Datsun box is more quiet and better
built (closer tolerances?) and thus, "loses"
less horsepower. It also seems to run
less "hot" and is "strong" in that it is built
to take the torque of the Datsun 210.
