Patricia,
Ya know, only students can get away with that stuff. BTDT, LTTAI,
only I was even dumber. I went an entire semester with only the hand
brake and my Keds to slow the car. Note I did not say "stop". This
was bad, as in: not good.
I think you need to rebuild the brake master cylinder. While you're
at it, look closely at the front calipers and rear slave cylinders.
Please make sure there are no signs of leaks there, either. If so,
rebuild. Also, while you're at it, wipe down all of the brake lines
and connectors with a clean rag. Make them shiny clean. Then, once
you've rebuilt or replaced the cylinder(s) and have driven for a
while, run a clean paper towel over the lines and connectors. Make
sure there are no brake fluid leaks anywhere. We want to keep you
around for a good, long time. You're entertaining.
Best of luck,
Jeff
