Depends on what sort of rally you are talking about. It is the goal of every
competitor to
catch and pass the previous car on the rallies I do. 1 minute apart, closed
(tarmac) road,
stages b/n 5 and 26km. Since the cars start in 'speed' order, the only real
chance you get
is if you are recovering from an earlier problem (and therefore you are a fast
car further
down the field amongst slower cars) or it is the first couple of stages before
they sort out the
appropriate order.
