Sounds like a lot of work, but should give a nice accurate number if the arm
doesn't flex.
If you hold a metal tool like a C-clamp in one hand so one end of the 'C' is
held to the top castellated nut and the other end is just touching the rotor
face, the other hand can slowly turn the rotor. You can feel if the clamp
is pushed away, or see if a gap developes. It doesn't give a precise
numerical reading, but it does give a simple indicator if things are less
than perfect.
For any cyclist listers out there (Dave B.), its like using a clothes pin
clamped to the frame of an overturned bicycle to check the run-out on a
wheel truing job.
