One of the (obviously wealthy) writers for a classic car magazine has a
really old Bentley and he used this conversion to give the car a better
highway cruising speed. I haven't seen the company who makes the 'extra'
flange end about recently but .... maybe at next weekend's Classic Car show
(anyone making the trip to Blighty?).

Hmm, have you ever seen these used in a practical application?

Sounds like a possibility for that "really tough conversion" but
you'd have to find a way to mount this thing totally on it's
own and carry the weight and vibration.
