My racks are only lasting about 400K with grease in them. Should I convert
to oil now?

Re: Steering Rack and oil vs grease
Hey all,
Yes I am a DCO, but I am striving to be a Less DCO. The Haynes says to use
oil in the steering rack instead of grease. I don't know if I have an
early
or a later steering rack (the car is a '60 Bugeye). It's whatever was on
the car when I bought it. It had grease in it (a little anyway as the
boots
were rotten and had to be replaced). I put grease back into them when I
replaced the boots, and have a whopping 800-900 miles on the car since I
got
it back together. Seems to be doing okay. I am headed towards impending
doom? I mean, more quickly than we all are?
