I'm rebuilding the 1275 in the Midget. The block is ready. The head is
ready. I've got the pistons, bearings and all. The new 266 cam is here.
All the parts except the pushrods and the new first gear and gasket set
for the transmission. I am chomping at the bit to put the engine
together. Even if the parts get here next week, I won't have time to put
it all in before I forego surgery Oct. 30, which will disable me until
Dec 1 The questions are:
1. I am concerned with installaing the new cam, pistons, etc, and
letting the engine sit until Dec. 1 before I crank it up to distribute
oil. Should I be?
2. Although I am coating everything with oil, when I was growing up the
practice was to mix STP with the oil you used for coating to ensure good
lube at startup. Good idea or bad?
3. I have generally used Castrol 20W50 in my LBC's. Should I use a break
in oil?
Thanks
