Sorry, I didn't think earlier when I asked about the size I can turn
the crank down to. One reply was don't go greater than 20over and the
other was 30. Well I should have thought about it and walked to Moss and
got a catalog before asking. They sell the bearings up to +40 so I guess
that is the absolute max. As for the people who have said 20/30 I wonder
what happens if I go bigger ? This is not a race car I am building.
I will know in the morning if the crank is even good to be rebuilt but
it appears I will need to go to +20 on the mains (which is good) and +30 on
the rod bearings which I assume is still good. Number 3 exhaust cam lobe
is bad on the cam and number 4 exhaust pushrod is bent. 2 or the 4
pistons are pretty badly scrored but the cylinders looked good although I
didn't know what size they were bored to already if at all.
So I need a new set of pistons, Moss has 2 styles. One gives a higher
compression and the other lower, I would assume the lower would give longer
life but they claim its the higher, any suggestions ? And all 3 replies
about valve seats said leave them alone.
