Either something is escaping me too, or Ed needs new glasses. I don't see
anything about AOL either in that URL, on the web page itself, or (to get
really geeky) in a whois lookup at Internic.
Or maybe Ed is just trying to KISS it by dropping the "d" and the "3" from
the URL and typing "l" rather than "1". Saves typing.
