Hi Brad, I had to dig out an old Motors manual to look up the polarizing procedure, it's been so long since I've done it. To polarize a generator with an externally grounded field, momentarily connect a wire from the "BAT" to the "GEN" or "ARM" terminal of the voltage reg. You should get a spark. To polarize a generator with an internally grounded field, disconnect the field wire from the regulator and momentarily touch this wire to the regulator "BAT" terminal. Hope this helps, CR |
