gas gauge diagnosing

and if the circuit is good from the sending unit to the gauge,he should 
check and see if his float has developed a pinhole and is sitting on the 
bottom of the tank,tricking the gauge into reading empty.had that happen on 
a 75 ford dump truck,chased that circuit for a day and a half...
