Don't confuse the 2 issues here. One issue is whether petrol (irrespective
of octane number) contains lead or not and what the result will be to the
valves and seats if it doesn't
The other issue is whether or not the engine is sensitive to octane rating
being low or high.
Of course lead is used to boost octane so potentially but not necesarily
petrol without lead is of a lower octane. The reality is that the octane
rating is raised by other means at the refinery.
