I agree wholeheartedly with this!  Several years ago Handyman magazine had 
plans for a huge work bench with lots of unique storage, and which used 
standard sizes of lumber.  I built it--easy and not too expensive.  That was 
a couple of years before I got into LBCs but I am grateful for the foresight.
