I don't believe you should have a problem with front mounting the
cooler. I would assume it's not so large as to block the entire
radiator. Besides not having a huge detrimental effect on air flow, the
heat removed from the oil is not entirely dissimilar from the heat
removed from the water (same source, and such). My RX-7 has a factory
oil cooler (in front of the condenser which is in front of the radiator)
and I have heard no stories of damage from stones/bugs/debris/livestock
smaller than manhole covers (actually, an entire manhole... it was a
construction area).
