Leigh Ellen,
I'm running the Datsun 5-Speed with the 948 engine. The ratio gap between
2nd and 3rd in the Datsun 5-speed can be tough with this combination, if you
drive much in hill country. I have found that when climbing steep hills
where 2nd is too low, 3rd is often too high. You need a little more power to
overcome this problem (1275). On flat land it's ok and 5th is great on the
open road. In town driving is greatly improved with the syncro 1st gear.

Can the Datsun 210 5-speed be found down under?, or would you have to have
one shipped from the U.S.?

Info on the 210 conversion can be found at: http://rivergate5speed.com/

Good Luck,
Larry Miller
