Hey Guys! I need some expert ideas. I feel very successful on my '67
Sprite body shell this morning--was able to cut away the old driver's side
A-Post, position the driver's side door on the new A-Post, and slide the
whole thing in for fitting. A couple of problems that probably just come
down to one solution. The door fits the new A=Post too tightly to clear it
when the door is opened. And that is BEFORE the new skin has been put in
place and bent around the rear of it. Is there a spacer that fits between
the hinge and the A-Post that might give the necessary clearance? Wonder if
I should use a couple of washers in there? Or take some 1/4" steel plate and
make a rectangualar spacer to put in there? I have not welded in the A-Post
yet, so I have some play there. I am afraid that if I get the A=Post out of
position, the post skin won't fit properly and will be out of alignment.
Also, I looked in Moss there was a "shakeproof washer" pictured on the door
screws. What the heck is a shakeproof washer? Is it an internal star washer?
Is it something I can get locally? Moss wants 0.30 each for them--not too
bad till you add the $3,000 shipping charges. <g>
Any ideas or tricks on installing the door post properly and in alignment
will be appreciated!!! Thanks guys.
