Paul-
Some of my 948's cylinder head studs have the drill point.
I don't have any plain studs, or studs marked 22. But several
studs have a 'Y' stamped on the top. I've been torquing the Y
studs the same as the drill points (while telling myself this was
probably a safe thing to do). But I've been scratchin' my head
wondering what the Y is all about... ever here of those before?
I don't recall seeing anything in print about them. Thanks...

42 ft/lbs on plain studs
50 ft/lbs on studs stamped 22 or with drill point

NO! NO! to 50!
25 ft/lbs on the smaller pedestal studs

Good time now to remive the studs here and use grade 5 bolts.
Then you can get the thermostat housing off easily in the future.
Calls for 8 ft/lbs

Right on for 15 ft/lbs
Have fun on assembly. If you are using the ARP studs, follow their
instructions supplied with the studs.
