Just received this e-mail. Maybe someone out there can help him out. I
know there was some info on this awhile back. I gave him the Spridgets
archive link address.

Subject: Help
was wondering if I could impose on your time to help me with a problem I
am having with my first AH Sprite. I just purchased a '69 sptite with a
1275 cc motor. I drove it 5 hrs from Carlisle Pa. (great show ) to Erie
PA. I had to replace 3 qts of oil on the way. Ity seemed there was an
excessive amount of pressure in the engine, it was not breathing, so oil
was coming out the valve cover and the oil fill cap. I looked at the
crankcase emission cantrol system and the hose does not look like it is
routed properly. How many hoses come off the emission control valve ? I
had a set up that did not make sense to me. The hose that came from the
top that leads to the oil separator had a valve( ? ) or bolt about 3"
down inside the hose. Then there was a "T" fitting before the oil
separator. The host coming off the "T" did not connect anywhere, It was
tied to the frame, I assume allowing oil to drip on the ground. There
is also a small peice of hose at the base of the Emission control valve
which only extends 2" and appears to do nothing. I did not feel a vacuum
on the hose.
So all I did was connect a new hose from the ECV to the oil separator,
with
no valve (?) in the hose, The pressure in the mortor seems relieved, but
now
I am getting excessive smoke from the exhaust. Do you have any clues,
any
books that cover this, or do you know somone to forward this to who can
help
??
Thanks for your time,
