Saw the following news item in February 1999 issue of "Practical Classics".
"A NEW Austin Healey Frogeye Sprite based on moldings from a 1958
original is available.
The Stuart Taylor Mk. I is built on a tubular steel spaceframe
chassis and is clothed in unstressed glassfibre.
Power comes from Ford's CVH unit used in Mk III Escorts, although
alternative engine installations are possible. A Sierra five-speed 'box
takes the drive to a five-link rear axle, which features coil over shock
absorbers.
'It's a very practical classic due to its mixture of easily
available modern mechanics and accurate reproduction of the Frogeye
shape,' says Ian Gray of the Stuart Taylor firm.
A basic body and chassis unit costs 2937.50 pounds.
Call Ian Gray on 0115 939 9497 or fax 0115 9393666."
So there is a new bug-eye out there. Who's going to get the first
one?
