Hope everyone's Christmas was/is as enjoyable as ours. Truly an unique time
of year, especially when there are kids around the house.
Earlier...I saw a post from someone looking for advice on rear hub removal.
What I have done is fashion an adaptor for my slide hammer that worked well.
This is how I did it.
Take a piece of flatbar (6"x2"x3/8" is what I used) and drill two 25/64"
dia. holes, each two inches from the center of the piece. These holes are
for attaching the work piece to the wheel studs. Next, drill a hole in the
center of the work piece. This is where you mount it to the slide-hammer.
Either drill and tap this hole to accomodate the threads on your hammer or
simply drill a plain hole and attach with nuts & washers. Then, just place
the whole kit and kaboodle to your hub, secure with lugnuts and your hub
should pop-off with just a couple of gentle tugs. Hope this helps.
Now...I seek some reference help also.
First...I seem to re-call, a while back, some discussion about "Perlux
Ignitor" installation tips. Someone, (Frank maybe?) advised as to how he
used an extra screw(s) when installing their unit? Having used these
ignition systems in V-8's with good success, and not wanting to ever again
have to adjust or replace points in the Sprite, I'm about to order one for
the old-girl, and would like to hear any stories ( good or bad) as to how
they perform in our little cars.
...and secondly...I have a question with regard to the proper badging of a
69 Sprite MKIV. Currently our car has only one badge, and that is the winged
Austin-Healey badge at the center of the hood's (bonnet's) leading edge. I
believe that there should also be something at the rear or on the trunk
(boot) lid, and something on the dash (fascia) as well. Anybody got ideas as
to what should be where?
