Recently I installed the oft-mentioned NAPA PCV valve that screws right into
the intake manifold on my pre-emissions 1275 (no provision for Y-tube on
carbs, I've been told it looks like a '67 engine). Before that, I had a
PO-set-up bare front-cover breather open to the air, and plugged-off
manifold.

The valve works great; oil drips are a small fraction of what they were.
However--

Once it warms up, the valve makes a hoot/squeak sound that seems to occur
once per engine revolution (I judge the timing from the frequency of the
sounds it makes when the engine is shut off and coasts to a stop). I can
eliminate the noise by pulling the hose off of the valve. I cannot cause the
noise by covering or partially covering the valve with my fingertip.

Anybody ever hear of a noisy PCV valve? Anybody got any ideas about how to
eliminate the noise? It's embarrassingly loud. <grin>
