Hey Spridgeteers!

I got a bit of a small frustration on Friday. As you know, I have fumes in
the boot which find their way quickly into the cockpit and have already
reduced my surprisingly low IQ further. :) I thought it might be wise to
replace hoses before I tackle the tank as it may not need immediate
changing and I could save the money for a few months. So, I ordered a fuel
hose (filler to tank). It even arrived in time to work on this weekend,
but...

It's short! Currently, my fuel filler (the metal part extending from the
gas cap) is only about 3-4" long. Then I have a flexible hose which seems
to have a woven cloth like outer coverning that snakes around and then goes
to the tank. It's long...about a foot and a half or so. The hose I
received today is only about 3" long and the combination of it and my fuel
filler extension is in no way going to reach the tank.

I don't know exactly what is the issue here. Did I get an incorrect part
in the mail? Is my fuel filler extension too short? What's the deal with
my long snaking fuel hose I've currently got on the car? It almost seems a
bad design. Why snake around? Why not go straight to the tank? Or is
there some safety feature with allowing venting of the tank, etc.?

Any help is, as always, greatly appreciated.

Also, Motorhead sent me a "braking switch" with two leads coming off it.
Looks more like a reversing switch to me. Shouldn't the braking switch
just have two spade terminals coming off the switch?

Thanks for any suggestions.
