Hi Evangelos,
There are a lot of variables when you start to modify the cooling system and
all the advice from the list is good. I would add that on my particular car I
dropped the water temp by fitting a LARGER water pump. The theory is that a
standard pump can get cavitation (a bit like spin - lots of rotation but no
progress). Also, the modern pumps were designed for the larger size water
pump pulley. If you want a later pulley and are in rush I can get one from a
scrap Metro for next to nothing and post it (they are expensive new - at least
in the USA).
Finally, if all else fails you can fit a larger capacity/more efficient
radiator - either built to your own spec or from a modern car like the Austin
Rover Maestro.
