Daniel et al,
I haven't been able to locate a web site for K&N but in the appendix to
David Vizard's Book (capital intentional) he lists their US address as:
K & N Engineering Inc
561 Iowa Ave.
P.O. Box 1329
Riverside, CA 92502
(714) 684-9762
They also have a UK address. I don't know which is world headquarters but
if any one wants that I will e-mail it off list.
Hal

Subject: Re: K& N filters ( - ask a lawyer )
Hi Listers,
One Swallow doesn't make a summer. I for one never form an opinion on a
single piece of evidence . I have read lots of detailed magazine tests on
air
filters. Usually the argument related to whether foam is better than K&N or
whatever.
The landcruiser tests do not appear very scientific. Were the filters the
right size, were the filters oiled properly, did the filters need cleaning
more often than usual, what did K&N say about the results, etc?
Do K&N have a web site? I only have details of a UK rep but think that if
the
list wants to consider the landcruiser comment seriously it ought to seek a
2nd opinon. Maybe the lawers that own Sprites ought to comment on forming
an
opinon based on a single source.
I will stick with K&N filters on the basis that: My engine did the first
20,000 miles with regular (every week at least) high rpm usage (7,500rpm)
and
when the engine had an unleaded head and freshen up re-build the pistons
were
re-rung as a matter of course and both pistons and bores were ok. I doubt
that I would have achieved this if the K&N filters are as bad as the
landcruiser comment maintains. Also I have seen dyno readings with and
withou
a K&N filter and the BHP was the same.
Unless the landcruiser comment has more details and specifically evidence I
won't be looking for paper elements for my 45DCOE , nor foam either.
BUT, if i get to drive my Sprite in a coal mine on a daily basis I might do
some investigation.
