I have been on the quest for a less anti-social Midget for a while now.
I have tried glass packs and scoured the parts shelves looking for a
muffler that fit and flowed well.

This is all confounded by the fact I am running 2" tube (yeah I know it
probably is too big, but gotta let those cams and head breathe!),
lowered, and a Winners Circle Panhard rod that has a HUGE bracket right
where you would like to run an exhaust pipe/muffler. The pacesetter
exhaust barely fit before it rusted away.

One of the Midget BBS sites had a reference to a NAPA PN 17702 that fit
and flowed well so I ordered one. Turns out to be a Thrush Turbo muffler
in a really small size. Thrush PN 17702 2" inlet and outlet, 11" long
(16" overall)
2.5 " thick and 7.75 " wide/ One spigot is offset the other is centered
and it is directionless (flows either way).

I don't remember which BBS...but thank you!!!

I ended up mounting it on edge with the muffler immediately behind the
forward spring box in front of the rear axle. (right behind your butt for
the left hand drivers...btw you brits don't know how good you have it
with that exhaust pipe on the other side of the car not directly under
foot!)

Then running a custom bent pipe under the axle and out the back behind
the left rear wheel.

The front pipe is just a 2" with a 90 degree bend in it. then the muffler
then the short tail pipe with a little jog in it. (you may not even need
the jog without the panhard rod)

Muffler was $28.00, misc clamps $8, tubing from the local muffler shop
bent to order $15.00

Sounds good. Not too quiet but now it is civilized. Got tired of the
significant other telling me every downshift and turn for the last mile
of my trip home...."is it really that loud?" and she literally could hear
me coming a mile away! Decidely different from the beast that it was
with an 18" glass pack on it.

More low end torque. Seat of the pants dyno says it is slower, but that
may just be because there is less sound and fury!
