Glad you folks had a good 4th. I was in a parade by mistake. I had taken
The Bug up to the pool to reserve a place in line (a chair with our pool bag
in it). I then came back to the house to raise Old Glory. As I came around
a bend on one of my neighborhood streets, I had to stop because the
neighborhood parade was just starting. Just as I stopped, several of the
parade participants waved me forward and left a space for me to slide into
the parade line! I had affixed a small flag to the windscreen bracket with
nylon ties, so I fit right in. I stayed in the parade for several blocks
giving the nicest parade wave you have ever seen (as my daughters tell me it
goes like this: elbow, elbow, wrist, wrist, touch the pearls, and blow a
kiss). Needless to say, I had no pearls on nor did I blow any kisses - but
it was a lot of fun. As the parade made its way past my house, I honked the
horn, waved once more, and slid up the driveway. Later up at the pool,
several neighbors stopped by and said that I really must join the parade as
a full time participant next year. I told them that I would think about it,
but in the immortal words of James Taylor -- "It hurts my motor to go so
slow"
