Nah, last week my bugeye was doing 110MPH on bumpy roads. 7200 rpm
in 4th with a 4.2 diff. On the bumpier roads it was a little hairy but then
thats
competition... Of course, it took a long slight downhill to hit 110 with a
warm
road motor, but it would have gone faster if I was willing to risk the
crank.
On the smoother roads it still felt good at those speeds. Perhaps you have
worn shocks or worn suspension (bushes, kingpin/outer lower pin, tie-rods,
wheel bearings). All these are in top condition on my car.
Before you suggest it, I had 2 electronic tachs and they both agreed on
7200.
I wouldn't think of trusting the speedo at those speeds. The tyres were
Dunlop
Formula R 175/60R13.
