All "A" series engines need a "positive vent" on the crankcase. this is done
several ways on various models, the most effective and simplest is a hose from
the
timing cover (on a Sprite)
Or rear clutch cover of a Mini to the intake manifold by way of some sort of PCV
(positive crankcase ventilation) valve. I have used standard PCV valves from
what
ever I had laying around with some succsess and failures. A hose from the intake
through a PCV valve to either the timing cover, valve cover or clutch cover will
draw any crankcase pressure out of the engine. With out it oil usually blows out
of the rear of the engine and onto the clutch.
