When I showed this thread to the wife, she reminded me of two defining
moments in our relationship involving my first LBC. When we started
dating, it was in freezing Albany NY in an MGB (take her to Thacher Park in
the spring in the Midget, Mumsy). The first time we went home to meet my
parents, the rear window of my top completely let go on the Taconic Parkway
in a 40 degree rainstorm. She laughed about it the entire way home for the
next 100 miles or so. She didn't complain as I spent the only day we had
home installing a new top.
Later, when I finally gave the MGB to my brother, we were delivering it
from Long Island to Ithaca, NY when we broke down on the Cross Bronx
expressway. This is several blocks from possibly the highest crime area in
the contiguous United States. She never lost her composure as I spent 3
hours on the side of the road essentially rewiring the car, with the locals
shouting insults and catcalling at us the whole time. It was then that I
decided that this was most definitely the girl for me!
Like I said earlier, she's been real tolerant.
