Hi Jim, Don't know the "stock answer to your question, but would recommend the second method, known as MS33660 beaded end to aerospace engineering types. The first type you've shown is an MS flare typically used with a 2-piece fitting, whereas the 33660 bead is used to join pipe and hose with a clamp. The bead is small, and will not overly stretch the hose (a flare is "sharp edged" and will). A beading tool should be available at Pep Boys, Ace H'ware, or a plumbing supply house (speaking on supposition here - I usually use the one at work). G'luck...
