I also brought home a 59 Bugeye in the bed of a Chevy pick up. The back tires sat nicly where the tailgate should have been. (You have to remove the tailgate) >From Maine to Jersey you should have seen the looks on the interstate! And yes the car will fit fine on a 5 X 12 trailer.
