I tend to agree with Fred. I would be willing to pay more for quality stuff
but at the same time I don't want to be ripped off by a vendor professing to
have better quality parts and in reality selling the same junk as Moss, or
worse yet, actually getting the part from Moss himself. I have seen this
happen. I want to know that it is a quality part and this is hard to do
without actually buying the particular part from a particular vendor and then
returning it when not satisfied, or relying on this list for the impressions
of someone that has already tried it. The the stuff you get from various
suppliers is not all the same so price shopping is impossible. I think the
overall quality of parts has a lot to do with the image of the marque. People
tend to think of Spridgets as a lower class of car and that the owners are
cheaper than they are demanding. I have purchased very little from Moss that
I have been satisfied with and will not buy from them again. I have been
mostly satisfied with VB and Mini Mania my two main suppliers but still send
stuff back that is of poor quality.

Subject: It's not a matter of money, Trevor
Trevor: To your reply of "they're in business to make money, for the
prices we pay, what do we expect?" My apologies if I misphrased that.
Money is not the object, quality is, if a Grille of low quality costs
$300 and a grille of high quality costs $500, I'm going to buy the $500
one. I am happy with most stuff I've purchased from MOSS. Fortunately
most of the parts have been made in England. But think of this, I spend
close to $400 (with tax & shipping) to buy sidecurtains, the side
curtains are spectacular, (even though the front panel is fixed, I think
less rattles), then I get these fixing brackets. Made in taiwan, that
make a 2 min job of attaching my sidecurtains into a ten minute
labourious adventure. I like Moss, I'm am a satisfied customer, however
it just burns one when what you see, what you expect, is not what you
get. I'm a 43 year old guy that makes good money, not a teenage
restorer. I know my car is a money pit, but its my money pit and I love
it. My apologies again Trevor if you are a teenage restorer. Bottom line
if MOSS sell a cheap grille for 300 and VB sells a quality one for $500
even $700, guess how gets my dough.
