The flange that connects to the diff is smaller on the Mk3 than the ones on
the 1500.

In one word, No. 1967 round tail spitfires axle length is about 1 inch
shorter (you should be able to measure the difference). The hub and flanges
are the same but the axle shaft is shorter.
