Doc,
Your misunderstanding is in assuming that the angle of the wheel is
related to the angle of the suspension upright, that connects between
the hub and the spring eye.
The suspension upright will change angle depending on the spring length.
However, this has no (well, a negligibly small) effect on camber,
because the wheel is not fixed to the suspension upright; the wheel is
always perpendicular to the driveshaft. Therefore camber can only vary
by the wheel moving up and down (relative to the body, and therefore
differential), thus changing the angle of the driveshaft.
The suspension upright can pivot where it attaches to the driveshaft, to
allow it to change its angle relative to the driveshaft as the
suspension works up and down.
