My solution to this problem is to simply use regular bulbs and not worry about it. Just make sure the bulbs haven't started to get that grey coating inside them, and make sure the reflectors and the lenses are clean. BTW, have you ever noticed all thise older Volvos whose headlight lenses have all gotten all clouded up? I'd hate to drive one of those at night...
