I few years ago (10/2001) I bought Pirelli P400's in the 175/70 size for my
'72 with stock wheels.
They were $40 each from Tire Rack, plus $25 shipping for four.
I am perfectly happy with them, and I believe that size is optimum for my
wheels.
Your '80 may have wider wheels than my '72, so you could possibly go with a
60-series tire.
I think www.tirerack.com has good tools to search for tires that match your
wheels.
The previous owner had put 165//80 tires on the car (a common size for cheap
13" tires),
and they were too large in diameter and too narrow.
