Maybe I just can't see the forest from the trees these days....
but this one kinda' stumps me.
My GT6 has been running great. Even in this cold weather.
it starts relatively easily and runs fine albeit a bit on the cools side.
Usually it starts up and will run around 80-90psi cold.
I can see the relief valve open at around 90 as it will rise
and then stop abruptly as the revs go up during initial warm up.
But just the other day, actually an over night type thing,
I noticed the oil press was not going above 40psi. At first
I figured the cold oil in the line, or the gauge simply wasn't
responding on this 220 morning. Well for two days now, the
press never seems to go above 40 psi. Once fully warmed
up, it WILL drop down to around 20psi at an idle, but as the revs
come up, never much more than around 40-45 psi.
So just a few minutes ago I pulled out the relief valve, simply
figuring there was some debris in it, holding it open. Well
nothing was there. nope, nothing, nada... the seat and plunger
were clean and burr free.
Now I know the Mobil One will run slightly lower pressures,
but what else could cause such an abrupt change 'over night'.
I was fine one day, ~70-90psi on start up, warmed up
to around 60 at speed, 20 at idle. And the next day, never
anything above 40-45 psi.
Any ideas? suggestion? wise cracks? No strange sounds,
idles and rev's smoothly as always. Yes.. the oil filter
was changed with the last oil change) , and this batch of
Mobil One has perhaps 300-500 miles on it. Opening up
the oil fill cap, while running didn't show any excess oil
up top, (thinking the screw had come out of the rocker
shaft rear pedestal hole or something) And no puddles
under the car.
I'm at a lose here for ideas for what to check next.....
