Subject: 63 Spitfire for sale
Good morning gentlemen,
I have run across a 63 Spitfire for sale that I will be looking at and
wondered if anyone could clue me into anything special to check out.
Are
there any special problem areas with this particular model/vintage?
Thanks in
advance.
Larry Daniels
Lets see.... What problems to check for????
1. First, look for rust in all the usual places (trunk, floor, sills,
etc._
2. Take a small magnet to check for bondo. A lot of times tust is well
hidden behing a lot of plastic.
3. If the car runs and is driveable, check for proper operation of all
gears and listen for unusual engine and tranny noises. Also listen for
any unusual noises (whines, clunks, etc.) coming from the rear end.
4. Check to see if all the accessory parts are there. These should
include:
Top
Top Frame
Jack
5. Bonus item would be a camber compensator installed on the rear.
6. If originality is important, look to make sure all the major
components are original.
That is about all I can think of at this time.
Regards,
Joe
P.S. Be sure to add it to the Spitfire Database
