Any chance your catalytic converter innards have disintegrated
thus clogging your exhaust?

1979 Stock Spitfire.
Very slow acceleration. The car runs very, very well, but won't get
out of it's on way. I've had many spits, none have been this gutless,
that I can remember. I just drove my friends 1980 spit, & it had allot
more acceleration than mine.
I have advanced the timing, slight increase in performance but not
enough. I thought maybe a hung up brake caliper, but none seemed warm to
the touch after driving it? Carbs seem to run good?
Maybe a restriction in the exhaust (the car sat outside for a couple
of years before I purchased it).
Any suggestions?
