Just retap the threads on the existing shock stud to take a nut of the next
smaller size. There is virtually no side thrusting on the shock, the nut just
keeps it from falling off. You could even drill a hole and use a cotter pin or
hair clip to hold the shock in place. No need to replace the vertical link.
