My turn signals haven't worked since the day I bought my '76. I really don't
mind using the old arm signals, but apparently a lot of today's drivers mind me
using them. So, I've decided to take on the devil I've been able to avoid so
far: the nightmare of wires tucked up under the dash.
The hazards don't work either (although the red dash light stays on when the
headlights are on, even when the hazard switch is in), nor do the running
lights. Headlights work fine. There is no click-click-click from the turn
switch when it's tried. I can't think of any other pertinent symptoms right
now.
I've replaced the flasher - that didn't fix it and now I'm stuck. I have
little to no electrical background (in fact, I'm still at the stage where
electricity kinda seems like magic). Any possible quick fixes to check first?
Does the lack of a click mean it's the actual switch in the column, or just
that it might not be getting power? Steering column removal looks a bit
daunting also, any secrets there?
Sorry I don't have better, more specific questions, but I don't even know where
to start, so I guess I'm just hoping for some help getting over the Lord of
Darkness hump. Thanks
