I'll add that Rimmer has an adapter kit that will allow the flywheel
with larger holes to be used with a cranl that has smaller holes.
Basically, it is a set of bolts and sleeves that fill up the gaps.

I know this one! The 73-74 is the one you need. I was in this same
situation last year. The 73-74 has the right bolt holes to match up to
the
1296, and the right diameter clutch to match up to the later gearbox.
Though I can't remember if it is flat or not.
If you have a 1296 with a 1500 flywheel, you really should check that
you
have the correct bolts - small bolts in big holes will eventually result
in
a broken crank - I found this out the $$$$ way with my car.
