Thanks all for the replies.
The studs and mounting clamp things(what are they called?) is an interesting
thing. Some were horribly rusted, and I did have to use a few bolts since a
few of the original studs could not be salvaged.
I did file down the pierce manifold to the best of my ability to ensure it
wouldnt be pushed against the header. I didn't want to grind it down too much,
creating a hole.
Here's an interesting thing though. The thickness of the flanges on the
manifold and header are different. IIRC, the header's flanges are slightly
thinner. This puts them at a slight angle. Can I just grind down a few of the
old clamps at one side to compensate?
I haven't been able to spray the carb cleaner on it, since once i start the
engine, it dies as soon as I get out of the driver's seat.
Guess I'll just order all new studs, nuts and clamps then, just to start on a
clean page.
