After a 12 yr rest, my Spit4 is back mobile. Took her on the short drive to
work on Friday (4 miles). It was a hot day (22C) so I wasnt suprised that the
temp guage got mid way between the vertical and the H.
Drove back around lunchtime, temp about 25C and she went up to the H after
about 3 miles. I have an additional fan fitted but this didnt make much
difference to the guage.
Took it really easy getting home. Didnt notice any steam or any leaking from
the overflow pipe. On Saturday checked the water levels and no noticeable
decline in the volume in the expansion tank.
Did do a complete change of cooling system fluid before putting her on the
road, also changed the thermostat.
Am leaning towards it being the guage as I would expect to have had her
boiling up at that sort of temp. Also shouldnt there have been a drop in
coolant level?
Have ordered a new temperature sender unit, just in case its that.
Any ideas?
Cheers
Martin
