Well, the 165/70 tyre is not quite the same as a 155/80
165 * 0.70 = 115.5
155 * 0.80 = 124
So the 165/70 is 7% shorter than the 155/80. Of course, that is added to
the 13" rim diameter, so overall height is only 3% less.
175/70 has a height of 122.5, so that tyre is probably the closest to the
155/80 you can get - at least without going to 205/60, and you'd never get
that onto a 5.5" rim...
Tyres are one of those great mixed-units definitions - in the same breath
the width is defined in mm and the rim radius in inches. Almost as good as
a timber store I used to go to that sold 2 metre lengths of 2"x4"...
