It's quite possible that the very earliest PAYKANs (circa 1967) had a d-type
overdrive--original licensure for the design came from British Talbot. But,
as time went by, more and more of the design was original and according to
one website, by the late `70s, 98% percent of the parts were built in Iran.

The Chicane was, effectively, a 2500TC, with a carbureted PI-spec engine.
The overdrive was first offered in 1973, so it is likely a J-type.
