    Sorry I can't envision all the details of your questions, but:

 1- I don't see a seal mentioned in the Leyland parts manual.  Isn't it a
case of the engine has the seal, either scroll type or rubber lip type?  If
you tip the transmission too far forward, the oil just runs out through the
bearing into the bell housing?
2- why use a luquit sealant? There is a gasket there already, on which I
used gasket goo between the gasket and the gear box, but nothing to the bll
housing.

3- I found that stuff too - think it is sound deadener.  Probably any
insulation stuff will do.

4- The Leyland parts book also shows this Plunger an d Spring.  It must
serve some purpose, I would suppose it should be there.

5 - yes, I found a frost plug (what else are they called?) for an engine
block that just pushed in that hole.  I sealed it with silastic just to be
sure.
