James,
           Just because your alt. CAN produce 65 Amps does not mean it will
all the time. The only time it should produce high amps is when it is called
for. If you hook up driving lights,fog lights,an electric rear window
defogger and a high output stereo.and turn them all on at once,you will have
trouble. I think if you have  stock Spit, you should have no problem. One
thing to beware of and this goes for most if not all auto electric systems.
If your battery goes dead,you should charge the battery,If you just jump a
dead battery,the alt.will put out it's max until the battery is charged.This
could be a problem. An Amp gauge might be a good accessory.
